Let no debt remain outstanding except the continuing debt to love one another for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. Romans 13:8
- Romans 13:8
The focus of this Truth Point is love. Love is such a powerful emotion and is, in fact, best communicated not in verbal expressions, but in deed. Christian love is expressed in our desire and commitment to serve others. The bible admonishes us to esteem others more highly than we esteem ourselves. We are to exalt the needs, wants and desires of others above our own needs. What a contrasting perspective from our society.
Man authored love is an emotion, fleeting - fickle by nature - because it is governed by external circumstances. Christian love; however, is genuine and not govern by external circumstances. As we walk in Christ-like love, we excel in all areas of life, because it is the most excellent way. Our inward commitment, belief and trust in an everlasting, all- knowing God causes our reactions to be atypical. We do not respond to circumstances in our own strength, but the power and strength that our Heavenly Father imbues.
Love has the power to transform - not just the object of its affection, but also the giver of that affection. I can personally say that I have experienced (this weekend) the transforming power of love. I thank God for not allowing me to loose hope. It is the redeeming love of God that is the basis of my hope. Acknowledgement of God's unending love for me compels me to good deeds as part of my reasonable service and expressions of gratitude.
This Truth Point is to encourage each of you to love - pay your debt. Allow the love of God flow in and through you to those around you and in turn you will be transformed!
